Pink & orange & pizza
One of my co-workers is from Long Island and I’ve unofficially dubbed him the “pizza professor” because he’s always talking about New York-style pizza and every time he orders a pizza he critiques it: “This is good but the crust isn’t thin enough”; “I don’t like green chile on my pizza”; “Eh. This one’s OK, but it’s not big enough”; etc, etc.
So far, since he can’t get his authentic New York-style pizza in New Mexico, he has settled for Domino’s Brooklyn-style pizza. That is until he discovered something even better. Here’s how the conversation went:
“Karen, I found a place that has really good New York pizza.”
“Oh yeah, where?”
“The Sbarro’s in the mall.”
“The Sbarro’s? Seriously?“
“No, I’m serious. I just happened to be walking by and I saw the pizza and thought that it looked good. It’s the closest thing to a New York pizza that I’ve had here.”
“Don’t people in New York make fun of people who eat at Sbarro’s?”
“No one in New York takes Sbarro’s seriously, but here it’s the best pizza.”
So there you have it folks. The state of pizza in northwestern New Mexico.
In non-pizza news, I’ve been playing around with color combinations and what to do with my one lone quilt block.

ok, this is really funny because when I lived in Providence, after searching and searching for good esspresso – I decided Starbucks was the only place to get good esspresso. Being from Seattle, where the real coffee snobs (like me) would rarely touch the stuff, it was weird to have it turn into the best. I will have to remember to go to Sbarro’s for pizza the next time I am in NM!
